fifi vintage cushion
The largest member of the Vintage family, this cushion is an absolute stunner!
The front side of the cushion is a vintage, traditional Indian textile that has been found in Jaipur, but is originally from the Gujarat area. Fuchsia and golden mustard hand stitching creates a bold geometric design, finished with a multicoloured border of pyramids. A dark navy base cotton has been used, which really makes those colours pop!
The back side of the cushion is a Cotton/Linen blend that has been hand block printed, in a geometric design featuring stars, loops and crosses. Our ‘Celebration’ print can also be bought by the metre and is printed in a cheerful sunshine yellow.
Hand Block Printing is an amazing technique that is practiced throughout Jaipur and it’s surrounding area. A pattern is chipped and carved into a block of teak wood, which is then dipped into trays of colour and stamped across the fabric to create the design. It has been practiced for centuries and never loses its charm.
The cushion has then been finished with a little grouping of fuchsia pompoms on each corner, giving just that little bit of extra charm.
Soda + Stitch love our textiles, and we love being able to view their imperfections and story. These cushions may come with small nuances in their characteristics or appearance, however we see these variations in stitching or colour as a beautiful reminder as to where it’s come from and its past.
